let us talk of power
of the writer’s words
of the artist’s eye
of the craftsperson’s hands
of the singer’s voice
of the player’s soul
of the actor’s courage
of all these and more
who rise up in creativity
to share their gift
who elevate our humanness
who shun our violent self
who share their spirit
who inspire
who see great possibility
in the face of grave threat
who will not succumb
whose message will prevail
as a beacon of hope
to light our darkness
theirs is the power
they are the powerful
for they empower

Thank you!
…may we never lose our ability to dream and to create…
That has made my heart sing. Wonderful. Just wonderful.
creativity is so powerful you’re right, for the artist and also for the message they can pass on to others
I loved this…its a chant, a call to arms, a dream, and a promise. Wonderful.
My wife told me to check out your site. Good stuff.
Yes, that’s a great description of power. Positive power to construct, add and help. Excellent post Rob!
The most ennobling use of power — the power of creativity. Very inspiring poem, as always!
This is one of your best, IMHO. I love it, love it!

That is high praise — I am humbled… thank you!
Let all the creative minds tap into their power….! I love the idea of creativity as powerful……… THIS is why we should DEMAND that creative arts are a central part of our educational system. Every child needs to have the opportunity to find their empowering creative side.

I couldn’t agree with you more!!
The current regime here in the USA is doing its best to dismantle the National Endowment for the Arts — an attempt to discourage artists and reduce the presence of art in our society.
They’d rather spend money on promoting war… it’s a perverse imbalance, and very threatening the future of creativity and independent thinking.
Suppressing art, literature, and free thought in a society, while elevating the fear and paranoia through the promotion of war — makes that society malleable and easy to control.
Wonderful take on the prompt, Rob. Very powerful stuff! Peace, JP/deb
Great poem and call to awakening for artists of all types. We do have the power.
